Julianne Laraine Toohey Real People, Real Community

Sometimes when people are on a website they don't realize that there are actually REAL people who are on it. This is a real community like anywhere else but the beauty of this is that the age of computers has allowed us to find people to communicate with that are right for us without actually having to be there. Maybe in the not so distant future we could have telecomputers that let you see and hear the people who you are blogging with at a fraction of the cost that it is now. That would really… Continue

Julianne Laraine Toohey The Black Friday that Wasn't

Today is the so called Black Friday, the day after Thanksgiving where people get up in the middle of the night to find great bargains at a much lesser price than retail and I must say that it really stunk except for the Good Will Store where I was actually please to buy something. I usually get up at 3 or 4 am am for work on a daily basis so this was not hard for me but things are really tough out there. Wal-Mart did not have anything I wanted and other people reported sales are down at other pl… Continue

Julianne Laraine Toohey Website of Honor

The more people that join this website, the more people will never be lonely or depressed. I have other support systems working for me than just this one here but this site is just as important as those other ones . We are a great group of humanitarians here in my opinion and I thank GOD, who ever that may be for us. I hope everyone is enjoying the environment and using the lessons that Mary has unselfishly taught us for she is a beacon of light for all of us at Rocamora House. The knowledge is… Continue

Lisa Grant Non Attachment Seminar November 21st

I attended my first Rocamora Seminar this weekend, below is the outcome as perceived by me.... ..Attachment?.. Not me! Ha!...just when you thought it was safe to go back in the water….da da—da da—da da…so very chilling the thought that ego lives deep within even when we feel it has cleared its self out, and we’ve darn near mastered hearing its fast approach. There are times when I feel as though I am just flyin’ around, and talking the deal of free state, or what have you when, bam!…something ju… Continue

Julianne Laraine Toohey The Military, Federal Government and the Difference

There are differences between the Military and the Federal government from what I have witnessed and the difference are that in the military it is duty, honor and country and in the Federal Government it is okay, It is just a pay check. With that set frame of mind in society today is it no wonder that the US is not respected today as it once was. In 1945 the US was on top and considered a gentle giant. Now it is full of people who have no respect for their own country and would rather deal with… Continue

Julianne Laraine Toohey Shopping atThe Good Will Store .

Today I start my Thanksgiving vacation and I am shopping at the Good Will Store on Black Friday, the day after Thanksgiving. Believe it or not I love that store. They have all the items one would need and the stuff you buy is a donation to help people find jobs and training sessions for the less fortunate. For those of you who want to do something good with your gently used items, a place like this is a good place to donate. You recieve a tax deduction and are helping people find work. The stuff f… Continue

Julianne Laraine Toohey Security Policy Of The US Government

Sometimes I just do not understand the Federal Government of the United States of America. They give you all sorts of classes and training on computer security and CAC,Civilian Access Cards but then someone hacked into my computer aand they tell me this is okay at my agency cause other people can log on to a government computer. I am confused about this. If you go to security about this you are concidered a whistle blower. What is this world comming to. Continue

Cynink Humor me...lol

Hi folks! I just had to add this joke, since others crack up over it. I'm not sure if it belongs here on this site but it does have some spiritual content. Heck. We all need a little humor to lighten our load sometimes. Okay here it goes. There was a man who in order to get local contracts as a painter, thined his paint. Ususally he did get most of the contracts. He got a contract to paint a church. As usual he thined his paint to keep costs down. He was about to finish up his work and it starte… Continue

Julianne Laraine Toohey Am I Too soft of A Parent.

My son,Steve is now 16 and a half and he gets about fifty dollars a week for an allowance and he wants a car.I told him that he would have to work to get one cause the insurance is high and I even got him an easy job where he could make good money and get tips. The people know me and will teach him the ropes of being a waiter or he could get a job at the supermarket. It will not affect his grades for he is smart but does not push himself much. Should I cut his allowance or push him to help himsel… Continue

Darrell Davis Miami Bookfair 2009

This weekend is the Miami Bookfair International. The largest bookfair in the world. And for anyone that is gifted it is like a crack addicts dream. Books & books & more books. I will be there...of course!!! Looking...hunting for books that will catch my interest. Black history, Science, Philosophy (African and Eastern, maybe with a little of western philosophy, though I'm not too keen on western philosophy) A bookfair for a gifted person is the like ringing the dinner bell for animals.… Continue

Julianne Laraine Toohey Sad Day

I am pretty sad today! I saw the memorial for the thirteen soldiers killed at Ft. Hood but I also have a church friend whose husband was the second to be killed by the sniper who is or was executed today. Jim Martin was killed by the snipers and he was a great man. His wife Billie Martin did not participate in the civil suit so I don't know if they recieved ny money but not amount of money could not have replaced Jim. Washngton Dc. and suburbs are filled with tragedy and drama every day. It's ha… Continue

Julianne Laraine Toohey I Know That Face!

The guy who killed and wounded people in Texas, I used to see him in the hallway when I went to the mess hall or PX at the Walter Reed Hospital . I have even said hello to him in the hallways. That guy was so nice and mild mannered, I don't think anyone bothered him in DC cause everyone is of many faiths, religions and races at Walter Reed. There us even education on that sort of thing periodically. Ya never know do you. Maybe that guy knew things we will never know about life as a Muslim or as a… Continue

Julianne Laraine Toohey Government Responsibility

My son woke up this morning around 4 am, turned on the news and saw Walter Reed on the news. The soldier who was stationed at Ft. Hood who killed some other soldiers had just come from Walter Reed before he was stationed at Ft. Hood. My son begged me not to go to work but I explained to him, son I am a Department of the Army Civilian andwas a soldier and that is what I do. I go to work to help defend our nation and if there is some guy who is going to kill me so be it. I will not hide from somet… Continue

Melissa Good Got Work?

So - I have been sucked up into the vacuum of network plumbing for the past couple of weeks as we have a number of very complex projects in the works along with some upcoming job changes. I have been able to use the lessons I learned here to keep a sense of balance in all of the chaos and maintain a positive outlook despite quite a number of challenges. One of the things I have noticed is that when people are taken out of their comfort zones - their patterns tend to change. What I have seen in o… Continue

Julianne Laraine Toohey Journeyof Delight

The most important asset to this site for me is the people on it. I check my e-mail almost everyday and try to add as much insight as I can. Being gifted is of no use if it is not used to promote prosperity and to help our society achieve its goal of a better and more harmonious excistence. Peace is of the essence of me being a part of this community and I hope the time spent with each other is enjoyable and educational as well as a bit entertaining. The journey is sweet and the company is golde… Continue
